What to expect

from your Shiatsu treatment

The session will last one hour, of which the actual treatment time is 40-45 minutes. It will begin with some questions regarding your health, medical history and reasons for coming to shiatsu.

Before

  • Please wear loose comfortable clothing
  • Bring along a pair of clean socks!
  • Do not eat a large meal before the treatment
  • Do not drink any alcohol before the treatment
  • If there is a chance you are pregnant, or if you are trying to conceive, please let the therapist know before hand.

During

  • Treatment takes place on a futon mattress on the floor
  • You are fully clothed the whole time
  • There are no oils or lotions involved
  • The massage involves gentle pressure, passive stretches and mobilizations
  • It will release the effects of built up stress in the body and mind
  • Shiatsu should not be painful, please feedback to the therapist if there is any discomfort

Afterwards

Most people feel relaxed, revitalized and refreshed. It is also quite normal, however, to feel some adverse reactions such as headaches and tiredness. This is usually the body eliminating toxins from the system and clears relatively quickly.

  • Don't plan anything immediately after the treatment
  • Give yourself time to relax and adjust
  • Drink lots of water

These sessions are designed for general relaxation and well being.
